Platform Merchant (Marketplace Business) onboarding
Register a Platform Merchant (Marketplace Business) account for your business entity
Get started
The first step to adopt Marketplace Use Case is registering a "Platform Merchant (Marketplace Business)" merchant account for your business entity.
Key prerequisites:
- We only accept Japanese entities (including Corporations and Sole Proprietorships) to register a Platform Merchant account.
- You must have a Japanese Bank Account to receive payouts in JPY from KOMOJU.
1. Obtain credentials
Contact our Account Manager or submit an inquiry via inquiry form to request Platform Merchant (Marketplace Business) credentials. Once received, log into the KOMOJU dashboard and access the "Test" environment.
2. Integrate KOMOJU APIs
Integrate Platform Model APIs to create test Payout Merchant accounts under your Platform Merchant account via our APIs. Then, perform test payments between your account and the Payout Merchant accounts via Payments APIs to ensure the system works. All of this is done in the Test environment.
Ensure you can handle the following after integration:
- Payout Merchant onboarding: onboard your sellers
- Platform Processing Model (for Marketplace Use Case): process payments between you and your sellers
- Balance Transfer: transfer funds between you and your sellers
- Payout to sub-merchants: set up payout logic of you and your seller
- Manage sub-merchants: manage your seller
- Manage your account: manage your Platform Merchant account
3. Submit your Live Application
Once you're confident the Test environment is functioning correctly, you can submit your live application via the KOMOJU Dashboard. KOMOJU will need to gather information about your business entity for compliance purposes. The required information falls into five categories:
- Company Information
- General company information, Company/Business address, Business information, and Contact information.
- Consent to 1) KOMOJU Merchant Services Terms of Use, 2) Special provisions on Platform Merchant agreement, 3) Special Provisions on Disbursement
- Personal Information
- Representative Director information, Residence Address of the Representative Director, Applicant Information, and copies of the Identity Document
- Site Information
- Provide detailed information about your site, Legal-related Information about your service (eg: requests from the Specified Commercial Transactions Act)
- Bank Account
- Information on your company’s Japanese bank account for receiving payouts
- Owned Payment Methods
- Specify the payment methods that are available for your customers to checkout. Learn more about Owned Payment Methods here.
After submitting, KOMOJU will begin reviewing your application.
4. Pass review and access the Live environment
Once your application is approved, you will gain access to the "Live" environment, allowing you to onboard real sellers and process live payments through KOMOJU's APIs.
